Giving my software development work “free” (as following the freedom principles) reduces my living income. I can charge for my work but my sales are going to be less if people can find my development work for free (no cost here) as well. Even worst they can sell my work as well and I don’t get a penny. Not a good business model as an independent developer in a capitalist society where I live.

Although, I agree in some of statements. He starts his arguments wrong. He is basing all with the argument that all proprietary software is malicious in nature and designed to do harm. This the guilt by association fallacy. I would support him more if takes the position of innocent until proven guilty. The latter is harder to implement than the former, but is more fair.

I want to have the freedom do whatever I want. Including watching this video on my iPad.

I cannot live how Stallman wants me to but I try. I will use free and open source software wherever possible but there is an extreme length people go to which causes a detriment to themselves. For example - I can not complete my University diploma without using Microsoft Windows. I use Gnu/Linux for everything except that and even in Windows I use Libre Office over Word.
